James Patt...Well, I don't agree with the quotation. James Patterson's Alex Cross series probably doesn't reinforce the version of the world that most folks know...since Alex Cross' world has drug dealers and pyschopaths. (I've read an Alex Cross book and I don't know many hardened criminals.)<br /><br />Some people read to escape their reality or to experience a different reality. Why shouldn't readers have the option of reading that is fun, or serious, or frivolous, or useful, etc.<br /><br />Hey, reading is just a way of sharing our common (or not so common [drug-dealing?]) human experience. And much of our human experience is simple, predictable--let's see...what other words are used to describe "fluff" or "mindless" writing?<br /><br />(And if you want to read another paragraph of me expounding on the value of ''mindless literature,' go check out an old entry on my blog found on myspace!)<br /><br />Hey, your mind will be more agile for reading--no matter what you read.
